About the Diretório de Certidões

The Diretório de Certidões is an independent guide, created to help anyone who needs to request, check, or understand a certidão in Portugal — businesses, property owners, Portuguese citizens, and also Brazilians, Spanish speakers, and other foreigners living in or visiting the country.

We Are Not a Government Body

This site is not an official portal and has no institutional connection to the Government of Portugal, the Institute of Registries and Notary (IRN), the Tax Authority, Social Security, or any other public body. We do not issue, process, or validate certidões. To request, pay for, or issue any document, you must always use the official portals — which we cite and link on every page.

How We Ensure the Quality of the Information

Every page is written based on information published on official portals (Portal da Justiça, Conservatória Virtual/IRN, gov.pt, Portal das Finanças, Segurança Social Direta). When a price, deadline, or cost can change frequently, we say so clearly and point you to the official channel to confirm it — rather than risk giving you an outdated number.
