This is the document usually requested in vehicle purchase and sale processes, to confirm the car is registered under the seller's name and free of liens or seizures before closing the deal.
How to Request or Check It
Online — Automóvel Online
- Go to the "Automóvel Online" service via justica.gov.pt
- Enter the vehicle's registration plate
- Fill in your personal details and email
- Pay by Multibanco or online banking — €10 (digital) or €17 (paper)
- Receive the access code: lets you check it again, free, during the validity period
In Person
- Go to an Institute of Registries and Notary (IRN) office
- You can book an appointment online before going
- Bring your Cartão de Cidadão and the vehicle's registration plate
- Pay on-site and receive the receipt with the access code
